Mykela Jackson

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Mykela’s healing journey began at the age of 19 when she transitioned to the plant-based lifestyle. After experiencing the amazing benefits of the diet and discovering Dr. Sebi’s teachings it sparked her exploration of food as medicine and Keiko’s Kitchen was born.

It’s deeper than food.

Our mission is to create affordable and accessible health food systems within majority- Black communities in an effort to elevate the collective consciousness and combat the capitalistic food system and its consequences- food apartheid, Black land loss, diet-related illnesses, race-based wealth inequities and environmental degradation to name a few— while driving in REAL solutions. We use art, food and intentional collaboration as tools to educate and empower our community.

Keikosx: Alkaline Bodega & Herbs was created to mobilize Black communities with healing products and education pertaining to Dr. Sebi’s African Bio Mineral Balance. We offer a variety of services that Informs the People of our current disposition, Educates them on holistic healing and Empowers them with the tools to liberate themselves and their community. Our work aims to decolonize Black American traditions by recreating cultural norms that are more aligned with our ancestral history and natural practices.

  • We attended the Food Business Incubator program and worked closely with advisor, Ann Fix to get our Initiative off the ground.

  • In 2020, Tori 44 in North Minneapolis opened their restaurant to us to provide the community with affordable plant-based soul foods once a week.

  • Seward Cafe continues to support our mission by opening up their commercial kitchen space to us for community pop-ups.

  • Appetite for Change was our first kitchen working out of. We’ve hosted many pop-ups out of their Breaking Bread Cafe.

  • Keiko was formerly the head chef at Trio Plant-based. She curated their current vegan menu.

  • 2021 & 2022 Grantee for the Equity Fund for Queer Entrepreneurs.

  • P.F. Cafe is our host for Wellness Wednedays and pop-up commissary kitchen. 2024 Food Business Residency.

  • Imhotep Science Academy has been an active sponsor for Sebi Saturday scholarships.

  • 2023 Young Adult Champions Award for BLLEI fund.

  • Tamu Grill was the first restaurant to support our Fried Oyster Chk’n by implementing it to their menu.

  • Representative Ilhan Omar vocally shared her support of our mission in 2020 on Facebook.

  • Former NBA star, Alan Anderson has been a long term customer of our Sea Moss Gummies, Meal prep and Catering services.
